Industrial development in India, in the advent of internationalization of capital, is indeed spectacular.  Consequential industrial hazards also are on the increase.  As a result law enforcing agencies were compelled to make stringent rules to protect life, property and environment from industrial disasters.  Industrial Safety & Fire Engineering acquires much prominence in the above context.  It has opened a wide avenue of employment opportunities in the field, in India and   abroad.  Institute of Fire And Safety Technology (I FAST), set up in 2002, is a Science and Technology Institute working in the area of Industrial Safety & Fire Engineering.  Its purpose is to train people in the field of Industrial Safety & Fire Engineering and encourage an integrated approach to the reduction in loss of life and property caused due to fire and other industrial disasters by effective educational programs.
